Ink Filled Pages

There are books that have beautiful eye catching covers. There are book that also have gorgeous interior pages. I love opening up and book an discovering its pages filled with designs and illustrations. I love all the little aspects that go into making pages readable and attractive to the eye, such as typography. So, today I decided to share a few books that have stunning ink filled pages.

The Steampunk Chronicles by Kady Cross
All three of the Steampunk Chronicles have simple but bold chapter pages. Each object pictured is unique to the book and is tied in with the story being told. For example the gears and cogs are from The Girl with the Iron Touch and represent Emily's mechanical ways. Also the number of items being bolded is indicative of the chapter number. For example: 9 dark keys for chapter 9.

The Grisha trilogy not only has the most beautiful covers, it also has gorgeous illustrations on the inside, including the Maps of Ravka. I love all the intricate and finely detailed chapter headings, along with the small designs for page numbers.

Changeling by Philippa Gregory
The Order of Darkness series has illustrations at the start of every chapter. These illustrations depict the place the main characters are visiting or the events of the chapter it self. Scene changes or paragraph breaks also have a lovely illustration of flowers and fruit on a vine.

The Secrets of the Eternal Rose series has one of my favourite page designs. The pages inside Venom and Belladonna are beautiful, delicate and ornate. The inner border of the pages as seen on the picture on the right is so gorgeous. Also each chapter has an epigraph from the Book of the Eternal Rose, which also has a flowery design. If you want to find out more about what went into designing these books, you can read an interview with the interior designer Amy Wu here on Fiona's blog.

The 5th Wave is broken up into multiple parts. Each Part has an illustration of space.

I just love the inside pages in the hardback of The Archived. I would love to wallpaper my walls with it.

Those are some of my favourite page designs. I would love to know what you all think? Do you have any other favourite book designs, font or typography?
